The numbers:

Research shows 1 in 4 people over the age of 65 have some form of macular degeneration and are losing their sight because of it. Someone you know or love has it…

OUR MISSION

The Support Sight Foundation’s (TSSF) mission is to save sight for millions of people who suffer from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and lose their precious vision. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, our goal is to provide patient education and access to low vision resources to help individuals, families, and caregivers whose lives are severely impacted by AMD.

We place a high priority on connecting with people, their families and loved ones who live with the daily struggle of impaired vision.

TSSF funds innovative vision research projects conducted by top scientists in the field who are on a path to discover effective new tools, technology, and treatments for people with vision loss.

My mentor the late Herb Lotman, (co-founder of the former Macula Vision Research Foundation) pulled me into this work and I immediately dove in and never looked back. As I witness every day, when sight disappears so does a person’s connection to the world. It is all about helping people who can’t see. Every single day they live with this blinding disease and it changes their lives forever.

This work is my passion and there is no off switch.

The SupportSightSM Seminars are so valuable for people with macular degeneration because they get such a full program of information at one time. Not only do they learn the latest about research and treatment, but learn about low vision, helpful technology and magnification devices and encouraging local resources that can take them to the next step in adjustment.

Douglas Y., Executive Director, Center for Vision Loss

It has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with you over the past few years – your team is always prepared and professional with your presentations, and you have always extended such kindness and empathy to our residents. I look forward to continuing our work together to provide the necessary tools and support to meet the needs of our community, in particular, those who are impacted by the daily struggles of living with low vision. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Brenda M., MSW Waverly Heights

The seminar was very well executed. The TSSF team is on point. Smiling, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. They had everything you could think of, which allowed me to be at peace because I knew that the residents would be at peace. I am also looking for vendors, or groups who can make an impact. This group did that and more. Thank you TSSF!

Louis S., Life Engagement Coordinator, Normandy Farms Estates

TSSF also convenes mini education sessions in partnership with senior living communities which are are a modified version of our SupportSightSM Seminars. These shorter, more condensed seminars are perfect for retirement communities and plug into the health and wellness curriculum that is offered to residents.

If you reside at a retirement community and are interested in hosting a SupportSightSM program, please contact SupportSightSM at info@supportsight.org.
